Exhaust System Coatings

Cermakrome

The Highest Performing, Most Widely Used “Chrome” Exhaust Coating Available

CermaKrome (MCX) is a metallic ceramic coating capable of providing extremely high levels of corrosion and chemical protection in a very thin film while producing a very high luster, near chrome appearance. When applied to exhaust systems, MCX will withstand substrate temperatures of over 1300°F and environmental temperatures of up to 1600°F (higher temperatures with a base coat or double coating). In addition, the direct flame will not cause delamination as long as substrate temperatures do not exceed this temperature. Due to its unique ceramic nature, the coating also functions as a very effective thermal barrier, with reduced thermal radiation characteristics. Requires a 500°F cure, with maximum hardness achieved with a 650°F cure. After curing, the coating requires “burnishing” to be sealed. This burnishing process can produce a very high luster, near chrome, appearance. MCX cures out to a very hard surface with excellent adhesion. The water-based solvent system provides for an environmentally friendly material with a bake/cure cycle that is not as hazardous as other thermally cured resin systems.

* Protective to over 1300°F Base Metal Temperature
* Maintains adhesion at environmental temperatures up to 2000°F.

* Designed for single coat coverage (.001″ to .0015″)
* Can be applied in a thicker film without cracking or flaking (.0018″ to .0020″).

* High Corrosion Resistance
* 6500 Hour Salt Spray ASTM B117.

* May be applied over MCS to withstand higher substrate temperatures.
* Water based, non flammable, no V.O.C.’s.
* Requires oven curing at 500°F for 1 hour.
* Easy cleanup with water.

Part #MCX available in Quart & Gallon. Available to professional applicators only.

TURBO X™

Turbo X is a silicone ceramic coating designed to be applied primarily to exhaust components. When applied to exhaust systems, Turbo X will remain color stable at exhaust gas temperatures up to 2000°F. Due to its unique ceramic nature, the coating also functions as a very effective thermal barrier, with reduced thermal radiation characteristics. The coating cures to a very hard, durable surface with excellent adhesion. Turbo X is designed to be cured in an industrial oven. Corrosion and chemical resistance is only achieved after the coating reaches a full cure.

* Extreme temperature exhaust component coating designed especially for turbos.
* Reduces temperature under the hood and on the exhaust manifold surface.

* Improves exhaust gas velocity, resulting in horsepower increase.
* Designed for single coat coverage. Dry film thickness of .001″ to .0015″.
* Can be applied over a base primer coating such as PrevCor, MCS or HHBK.

* Solvent based.
* Recommend full cure at 600°F for one hour.
* Oven baking recommended.
* Easy cleanup with Acetone or similar.

* Available in Satin Black (Part #TXBK) and Blue (Part #TXBL).

Available in Quart and Gallon to professional applicators only.

BLACK SATIN EXTREME THERMAL BARRIER

Black Satin (BHK) is a ceramic reinforced thermal barrier coating originally designed to handle reentry temperatures for space vehicles. It has been modified for easy application to automotive exhaust components. When applied to exhaust systems, BHK will remain color stable at exhaust gas temperatures up to 1600°F. Due to its unique ceramic nature, the coating also functions as a very effective thermal barrier, handling exhaust gas temperatures up to 2000°F, while reducing thermal radiation. The coating cures to a very hard, durable surface with excellent adhesion. BHK is designed to be cured in an industrial oven. Corrosion and chemical resistance is only achieved after the coating reaches a full cure. Black Satin can be used to determine exhaust component metal temperatures as it experiences several color changes as base metal temperatures ramp up from 1000°F to 2000°F. This can be a tuning aid.

* Extreme temperature exhaust component coating maintains adhesion at base metal temperatures in excess of 2000°F.
* Highly resistant to thermal shock
* Survives cyclic heating and cooling.

* Insulative
* Functions as an effective thermal barrier.
* Rapid dissipation of heat that reaches the surface leads to an additional reduction in underhood and surface temperatures.

* Air drying
* Rapidly dries to a tough film, allowing for large parts that can not be oven cured.
* Oven curing recommended. Recommend full cure at 700°F for one hour for chemical, moisture, and corrosion resistance.
* Solvent-based. Easy cleanup with Acetone or similar.

* Designed for single coat coverage.
* Can be applied over a base primer such as PrevCor, MCS, or HHBK to increase corrosion resistance, withstand higher temperatures, or increase thermal barrier characteristics.

Part #BHK available in 4-ounce can, Quart and Gallon to professional applicators only.
